American Traffic Solutions (ATS) - Fleet is a leader in Toll & Violations Management Solutions, along with License and Titling services. ATS delivers Toll and Violation Management solutions to not only fleets but also Toll Authorities and Municipalities. In addition, ATS works with rental car companies and fleet management companies to offer services that include vehicle registration & titling, registration renewal management, duplicate title/re-titling, and state change of title management (including new license plates).

ATS' Mesa office is hiring a Manager, Database Architecture. As a successful manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership and support for delivery teams and staff. In addition, you will be overseeing the architecting, designing, creating, deploying and managing of ATS’ data architecture. This position requires someone who is able to work effectively in a fluid, fast-paced agile environment and requires excellent leadership, design, and communication skills. This individual will report to the VP of Software Development.

The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manages a small group of people in a Scrum environment to iteratively design, develop, test and deliver a quality product
  • Provides input and guidance into the staffing process and actively participate in the staff recruiting and retention activities
  • Determines database structural requirements
  • Develops database solutions by designing logical design; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications
  • Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering developer questions
  • Conducts training for development staff on best practices
  • Provides database support to all technical staff


  • BS in Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with an RDBMS
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in database design and architecture
  • Able to effectively manage others
  • Must have established leadership record in being able to assess baseline “bench strength” within a team;  grow capabilities that supports ongoing business/customer strategies; hiring the right candidates; and developing and retaining key high-potential employees
